I was browsing Pintrest when I found some teen crafts on A Little Craft In Your Day.  One of the most interesting crafts was for a glitter case.  I have improved the original tutorial and simplified it.  I recovered my sister's case and now I've been getting lots of other people asking me to recover their cases, too.  Below is my tutorial on making a glitter case.  It may seem easy but I kept trying to perfect my sister's case, she'd said I'd have to pay her if the case ended up looking bad, that it took me almost a week.  Again, some causes of that could have also been that I was busy, but it was a little harder to cover the case because it had a design underneath it.

Glitter Phone Case

Materials:

-A plastic case
-tape (optional)
-paintbrush
-bucket
-glitter
-school glue
-gloss mod podge
-adhesive glue like goop **

Step 1:  Make your glue-glitter mixture

To make your glue-glitter mixture you are going to need glitter and school glue.  It is also optional to use mod podge or another type of water based glue for your mixture.  Now it is your choice, you can use different colored glitters and mix them together of not.  I didn't think 1 tube of glitter would suffice for my case so I used 3 tubes, but in the end I only ended up using half of each tube.  Below is the colors of glitter I used.

Next I used my Elmer's school glue to make the mixture.  I mixed the glue with the glitter, adding equal amounts of each color to the mixture.  I would make sure to not use too much glue because I ended up with lots of extra.

Above is my finished mixture.  Remember, if you think it doesn't look dark enough for your taste, the glue will dry clear and you will just be left with glitter.  See final pictures for evidence, this above picture might look pinkish but in the end the case looked like an orange-pink color.

Step 2: Painting

Now it is time to paint your mixture onto your case.  Depending on if your case is a plain color or has a pattern on it will determine how many coats you will need.  Feel free to tape off the edges of your case to keep the glitter mixture from ruining the sides.

One thing to remember is too not paint too much mixture on the phone case.  I made this mistake and had to check on the project multiple times because the mixture kept on dripping off the corner of the case.

This caused me to get multiple shards of glitter on my finger, but luckily I used washable glue.

Step 3:  Gluing your glitter film back to the case

NOTICE:  This step is only if your case is a certain plastic that the glitter film peels and comes off (hopefully in one piece!)

For my case, the glitter film peeled and came completely off of the case.

This ended up being a happy mistake because the sides of my film were a little uneven.  I ended up cutting the sharp edges off the film.

This is when the "adhesive glue like goop**" comes in.  I tried to use goop but I could not get the squeeze bottle open...

I ended up using my mod podge, which worked very well.  What I did was paint a THIN layer of mod podge on the case and stick the glitter film on over that.  East fix.

I accidentally bought paper mod podge but I believe that the only difference is that it stops aging of paper.

Step 4:  The gloss cover/water proof it

This is an optional step.  If you don't plan on getting your case wet, which is doubtful, you don't have to use this step in less you want your case to look glossy or have a finish on it.  I used Decoupage outdoor gloss which is not water proof but will protect your case from a few raindrops.  If you really wanted a waterproof case you could look for a water proof sealant at your local craft store.

All I did was paint the gloss on the case and voila!  Done!
